About me

Vita Furman Peterlin was born in Ljubljana in 1993. She began studying cello at the Domžale Music School with Professor Almira Hamidullina, continuing at the Conservatory for Music and Ballet in Ljubljana under Professor Milan Vrsajkov, and later under Professor Karmen Pečar Koritnik.

She furthered her education at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where she studied with Professor Julian Arp. In 2015, she spent a semester studying with Professor Christian Polterer in Lucerne. Vita graduated with honors in June 2017, completing her Bachelor’s degree. She subsequently pursued a Master’s degree at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under the mentorship of Enrico Bronzi.

Awards

Throughout her studies, Vita Furman Peterlin participated in numerous national and international competitions, achieving significant success. She won the Gold Medal at the TEMSIG Competition for Young Slovenian Musicians in 2006, 2012, and 2015, placing first once and second twice.

In 2010/11, she earned second prizes at the Petar Konjović Competition in Belgrade and the Euritmia competition in Italy, along with third place at the Premio Città di Padova. The following year, she won first prize at the Ars Nova Music Festival in Trieste, performing with the festival orchestra. As a soloist representing the Ljubljana Conservatory, she performed Haydn’s C Major Cello Concerto with the Slovenian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.

In 2014, Vita Furman Peterlin competed in three major events, winning the premio assoluto and the Giuseppe Magnani Scholarship at the Antonio Salieri Festival. She earned a Gold Medal and Special Prize at the SVIRÉl Festival in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, and first prize in Treviso. The following year, she won first prize at the International Val Tidone Festival. That same year, she premiered the Rococo Variations for Cello and Wind Orchestra at Maribor’s Union Hall. In 2016, she won the premio assoluto at the Antonio Salieri Festival and first prize at the Grand Prize Virtuoso in Salzburg, where her award-winning performance in the Wiener Saal led to a concert opportunity at Carnegie Hall in New York in October 2016, alongside American pianist Lianhua Chi.

In May 2017, Vita performed as a soloist with Les Violons de France at La Madeleine Church in Paris.

Chamber Music

An active chamber musician, Vita performed Brahms’ String Quintet in G Major in 2013 in Graz, broadcast by ORF, Radio Ö1. In 2015, she played Beethoven’s Septet, collaborating with the renowned conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Since 2015, she has frequently performed with Slovenian accordionist Žan Trobas at national and international festivals. In 2016, she won the Martha Debelli Scholarship Competition in Graz with pianist Philipp Scheucher and violinist Wiktor Modrzejewski. She has also performed at chamber music festivals with noted musicians, including Vladimir Mendelssohn, Alissa Margulis, and Frédéric Moreau.
As a soloist, Vita regularly participates in masterclasses with distinguished artists such as Marc Coppey, Valter Dešpalj, David Grigorian, and Antonio Meneses.
